Built in 1924, Provident is a lovingly restored Brixham sailing trawler, known for her classic lines, sturdy build, and timeless elegance. With her rich maritime history and traditional rigging, she provides a unique and authentic sailing experience. The crew will invite you to lend a hand with the sails, or you can simply relax on deck, breathing in the crisp sea air as you glide through the Sound of Mull, past unspoiled islands and dramatic coastal cliffs.

May is the perfect time for seabird enthusiasts, as many species are in the midst of their breeding season. From the deck of Provident, you’ll have prime viewing opportunities to spot puffins, guillemots, razorbills, and perhaps even the majestic white-tailed eagle soaring overhead. The rocky shores and remote sea stacks serve as bustling colonies for kittiwakes and shags, while gannets can be seen plunging into the sea in spectacular fashion. With luck, you might also encounter seals, porpoises, or dolphins accompanying the boat.

Each evening, you’ll anchor in a secluded bay or near a remote island, where you can enjoy hearty, locally-sourced meals and share stories with fellow travellers. With minimal light pollution, the night skies over the Hebrides are often spectacular, offering a chance to stargaze from the deck.

Whether you’re a seasoned sailor, a keen birdwatcher, or simply someone seeking a tranquil escape, this voyage aboard Provident promises a perfect blend of adventure, wildlife, and relaxation along Scotland’s breathtaking coastline.
