Nestling in the waters south of Skye, the enchanting Small Isles offer a fantastic treasure of beauty, culture, wildlife and a slower pace of life.
From the charming grassy slopes of Muck, the fascinating history of Eigg, the brooding mountains of Rum to the delightful Puffin colony on Canna the small isles have so much to give.
We’ll venture up the Sound of Mull, using our best sailing skills to make best use of the wind and currents. A stop in the colourful Mull village of Tobermory is always great fun. Then we’ll emerge into the waters west of Ardnamurchan as the unmistakable silhouette of Eigg hoves into view.

The southern most of these islands is Muck, the smallest of the small isles. It’s a very pretty place, perfect for a relaxed walk. Muck is also great for picking up delicious local food. This may be the freshest sea food or tasty locally reared lamb.
To the north lies Eigg. This island was a pioneer of community ownership. The Eigg skyline is dominated by the rocky ridge of the Sgurr, an ancient rocky outcrop which was spewed from a volcano on nearby Rum millions of years ago.
Rum is the largest of these islands with towering mountains it strikes and imposing impression. At the north of the island are beautiful sandy beaches. One of our favourite things on Rum is to drop guests off on the beach at Kilmory. From here an easy going landcover track leads south to Loch Scresort a wonderfully secure east facing anchorage. Those that fancy a walk can wander down the path while we sail Provident round to pick you up later, ready to welcome you back aboard with tea and freshly baked cakes.
For those seeking a more challenging venture ashore, the 812m ascent of Askival is a great way to spend the day. On a clear day the view from the summit stretches for hundreds of miles.
The last of the Small Isles is Canna and its one of our favourites. The combination of a secure anchorage, beautiful landscape, and at this time of year a bustling puffin colony make this an unforgettable place to visit. There’s even a lovely little pub with it’s own brewery to quench the thirst after a days exploration.
