Step aboard and discover scotland by sea

How to visit Scotland?  We know lots of you will fly or take the train to Glasgow or Edinburgh, hire cars or campervans, visit Skye, the North Coast 500, take the ferry to Harris or Lewis – perhaps even visit your ancestral homes.  On the way you might sample the seafood delights of Oban or savour the peaty Islay whisky.  You will camp or stay in local hotels and each stop will offer a fantastic new experience of our country.

The sailing holiday of a lifetime

But there’s a different way to see our part of Scotland, the wonderful west coast.   Provident is a 100-year-old Brixham Trawler. She has a traditional rig making her fun and exciting to sail on but down below she is comfortable with heating and showers and cosy bunks. Our local crew will make you feel right at home.  You will sample delicious food, see spectacular scenery and wildlife and visit our islands and coasts in ways you couldn’t hope to do on land.

The west coast of Scotland is a geographical wonder. Forged over unimaginable time into a crinkly mayhem of lochs, mountains and islands. On land, getting about takes ages. By sea everywhere is close at hand and the perception we get of this beautiful rugged and remote wilderness is completely changed.

From a base on Provident the remotest places become accessible and quite quick to access. It’s great fun getting there under sail, plenty of great things to do ashore from hiking to enjoying the local culture. Best of all, rather than having to get in the car or having a long walk or drive back to base. We have our base with us right there. A blend of traditional solidity with modern comforts like central heating and a phone charging point by each bunk.

Plus you’ll be welcomed back on board with great food great company and you’re sure to be taking great memories home with you.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard Provident!
